Just some notes and opinions from random L2 veteran :))
– L2 has big amount of buff slots. Whole game is based on need having a plenty of support types in party. Early chronicles have 20 buffs & 10 debuffs, then it's increased to 32 (36) + 12. But it seems already that Steven shifts from L2 design and there will not be that amount of buffs to use. At least not at once on players.
– In L2 you not see not Level and not even a HP percentage of other players excluding your party members, I really like this kind of design because you cannot abuse this system if your planned victims fights with some mobs already (you have of course already advantage of they have already mobs on them, so this layer made this advantage even worse)
– I really do not like idea of having in open-world pvp game some kind of isolated conflict. Then we can shift whole caravan run inside some instance and save upkeep cost of servers. I wanna have opportunity to join on any side π
– limiting both sides of conflict may adds more design flaws than you may think. If mafia guild want waste time of 150+ ppls at once for 2 hours caravan run then whatever. If they will doing this often and their members gets boring, then they just leave to other clans which having more fun π
– it should not be artificially fair in numbers, thats again smells with some weird decorated environment which is exactly what IMO not wanna in open-world PVP. It should be that you should have chance even with lower numbers – it should be skill based game and there should be utilities to use their numbers in your advantage – like aoe bubble spells. Most mass battle fights I attend werent equals in numbers and we often wins outnumbered by 5+ parties on second side because we just had really well managed and skilled leadership
– If you limit to 40v40, what you will do if mafia guild fills both side of event just to prevent any conflict to even cant happens?
– In L2 there are some kind of 'events' – castle sieges, teritorry wars, clan wars, all of them have combat zone – you will not get purple, but you can kill everyone like if they are purple, only clan wars happens on open space and you flag as normal, there are only diference that you will not get red if you kill enemy clan member. But you can be intretupted by others,
– On other hand I agree with many point you had as I think caravan system should be more casual/solo friendly, it is really created to be one of most conflicting part of the whole game, which is sad. I think it really miss the potential of being logistics & macro-economy game for professions & economy lovers.
Youtube is better anyways! Im loving it lol
One of your best streams V. Amazing conversation. A lot of food for thought. Keep up the AMAZING work. Really sad I missed it.
Nah I want to see classes, .not playing a survival game π
Totally agree, 40 max for both sides and non combatants to 3rd parties would make it even better than it is! Also since thereβs a highwayman system do you think there should be a caravan guard system as well?
Great discussion. I don't think 40 max size on bandits and defenders would work because the defenders could just bring 80 people (easy for big guilds) and fill both raid as soon as it's launched locking out anyone who would want to attack. Or just bring 41 people. One to drive and 40 to fill bandit raid and afk until caravan finishes run.
IF there's an Attacker/Defender limit, the 41st player would be Green.
A/D limits should be based on what Type of Caravan it is: Basic, Lv.2, Mayoral Caravan, Tax Caravan, etc.
