Pax Dei is the upcoming MMO that is right behind Ashes of Creation for me. What would make it move above Ashes?

  1. The scale of two games seems just insanely different to even begin to compare them.

Ashes is trying to build the core feature/tech base for a ginormous mmo, while PD simply looks like a tech demo with a few nobs turned.

I'm not a dev so maybe I'm super mistaken on how long this kind of thing would take to develop, but PD looks like it has barely a few months, while Ashes shows its years of iterative design.

  2. It's hard to follow this discussion when the idea of what a "successful" MMO is changes based on who you're talking to. Is a game with a steady player count of 8,000 players on release day that increases slowly over time to 15,000 in 3 months "more successful" than a game that pops off on release with a 50,000 player count but decreases fast to 17,000 in two month's time? If we're just going by ratios, survival games/sandbox MMOs have a higher "success" rate than theme park MMOs since there are so many theme park MMOs that release every year.
