  1. If they add LFG, I am not even gonna try the game. Simple as that.
    One of the funniest things I witnessed in MMO was my guild leader completely losing his shit over gathering people for the raid.
    The preparation for the raid, sense of danger of encountering hostile group who is trying to do the same, joking around before the raid starts etc.-Thats precious. It makes memories.

  2. So im going to disagree slightly and say it depends on how it's done. The instant queue up and tp to a dungeon is dumb for sure. The way i would do it is regional lfg posts on a board, maybe next to the regional marketplace. The reason being community and this game being a heavy group focused game. Give people a place to meet up with others, preferably somewhere a lot of people would already be and adventure out from town together.

  3. Lfg features dont have to mean a instant Q teleportation to instance zero f***s given system. It can be as simple as a bulletin interface to post what your looking for and people need to respond and talk about the goals and layout of the party. I lived the life of spamming chat for hours looking for group members only to have your message washed away by everyone else spamming chat with the same copy paste message. That was not a better system 🤣. Hell even intrepid uses twitter as a sudo lfg to fill job roles. You just need to introduce a communication aspect and the group leader will be responsible for inviting those people. Pretty simple really.

  4. It feels that you are conflating two different things. I feel looking for group, on its basic level, is good and acceptable so you can find something to do. I also love the idea of who's online with race, area, class, level, religion, guild, and name filters. Where the problem arises is when there is an auto sort/group feature with teleportation wereas, a players can be passed over for a raid. But the ability to know who is online and what activities are available is crucial and also be able to communicate with them is crucial. I believe there was a great example of this in Pantheon: RotF.

  5. We need a group finder-lite. A notice board for the area or zone where people can view / post lfg while questing. It is a bad time to be anchored to a town, npc or spamming general chats for hours. when you could at least be productive during your hunt for a group. I don't think group fast travel / summons is a good idea. It's nice to think of a system that cant be abused, doesnt seem too hard to implement but it does cost a massive number of possible experiences (good&bad) for the group when they can be safely teleported in / out of the instance or to the edge of an open world dungeon.

The removal of Inconveniences from MMORPG i think honestly what killed the MMORPG genre, Pre WoW era the development focus was making a world where players just existed and the inconveniences help that with making the world feel real instead of just a game. Modern day devs try and find out how to make games as convient as possible which killed the world feeling and in tern the magic that MMORPG world once had.
    MMO these days tend to be lobby based game where u just wait for a lfg queue run a dungeon with people u dont care about and repeat it nothing like the old games 🙁

    AoC seems to be fortunately seems to be trying to modernise the old school game world feeling it seems so we might just get a bit of the magic back with Aoc
