I think Ashes of Creation will incentivize us to play with each other more. I also believe they know this is a big problem in the MMO genre and that it’s up to the players to fix. Depending on what they put in the game, it may allow us to actually want to socialize more.

Does the cut scene qualify as CC role play or should we deem it drama? 😛 I certainly hope that the node system invites active engagement from the majority of players. It it winds up being ignored by the masses, then I would say that AoC should be considered a failure, as it is the single new mechanic that the game offers.

Hopefully I can find a guild and be fairly social. It's just harder now as a adult with a full time job and a side gig to find that time to build in game connections. It does sound interesting, but if I'm not playing constantly I think it might be hard to keep up with the social/political aspects of the game. Time will tell, I guess. We'll see what alpha 2 brings when I get my hands on that.
I don't think it's going to be quite as involved as everyone thinks. Time will tell.
I usually like to meet friends in the game, while doing fun stuff. That way you know the people you are hanging with are already into the same content you are.
I still think the biggest risk to AOC is server merges and population fluctuations.
