  1. Thank you all for joining us today with our Events Update! As always, this system is a work in progress, as is our VFX and UI and reward tables. Let me know your thoughts about the event system. To reiterate, these help serve as a unique way to show players what types of progression is happening around them by pop-up events that reflect these other activities happening around the world. In bite-size and easily digestible content challenges for players to coop. Always love to hear your thoughts! <3

  2. People who want the button-mashing ARPG-style of gameplay: No. God no. Please no. Not in a PC MMO.

Low skill floor, extremely high skill ceiling. That's the formula to success. Lots of abilities/bindings, complex macros, mouseovers, focus targets, target of target, etc. This is what made WoW so amazing. You can be a total noob and click your abilities and play forever not knowing what any of those other things are and still enjoy your time in the game… or you can learn and skyrocket your skill, your progression and your enjoyment. Always having room for improvement and always having a goal there to shoot for when you're ready is so important.

  3. I really hope the pvp in this game can beat how good ESO’s pvp is. That mmo set the stage as the best pvp out of any mmo in my opinion. I know the balance of ESO is dogwater but I hope ashes can be just as fluid and even better then eso. I would love to hop in and 3vX groups in pvp like I do with my two buddies on eso. That gameplay will always be the most satisfying feeling in the world. Please ashes make your pvp feel amazing, skillful, and have ranked systems with custom rewards. If my buddies and I are always 3vX’ing players and winning tournaments/events
/battlegrounds/ arenas/etc let us be able to get. Some of a kind reads or skin so other players will be like “well holy cow those guys are insane at pvp!”

  4. Question. Would you still automatically join event raid groups if you were corrupted? It seems like an easy way for a group of corrupted players working together to infultrate an event group of players so when the event is over, they can perform a PvP ambush.

  5. This game is supposed to be pvp-centric, where is the option for players to join the bandits to help fight against the players trying to defend the caravan?
If that option isn't baked in from the beginning these types of events will be completely meaningless as opposing player forces can simply steamroll this event to prevent success.
It doesn't look like your event programmers are taking actual player behavior into account when designing these events.
This is why it's so important to have pvp guilds involved with the early stages of this type of content design.

  6. I can't believe how in order to work as an Ashes dev you need a minimum of 6+ years of experience, and then THIS is what they have to show 7 years into development???? Compare this to Archeage 2 and you'll see the difference between a good dev team and one that only has "experience" working in games that had nothing to do with MMOS

  7. From what i'm seeing, combat isn't all that fun. Its a race to throw as much at a monster and not so much as a how can we efficiently and strategically kill the monster. I'm looking for things like elemental resistances, dmg type resist/weakness, and so much more that seems to still be missing. When I see a spell turn the corner to follow a monster, its a dead giveaway on the cheapness of the combat. Action combat and strategic win or lose will always beat content. Whats the point of fighting monsters a hundred times and difficulty going up to just increase their health pools?
