I was so excited for guildwars 2 because I thought Dynamic events were going to change the leveling experience in huge way, instead we still did quests and dynamic events were constantly repeating, always feeling cheap and pointless. Maybe having consequences for failing and they being a more rare and rewarding event might make me care about them more but I don't think thats enough.
I kinda hope it the event where the goblin attack the node and the node looses so we see a building being destroyed or something and shoes there consequences if you loose appart from i got less XP than i would of i won.
They need to feel like something gonna happen if you win or loose not just a bigger number of XP/currency they got to matter.
I’ve been impressed with every system Intrepid has taken their unique approach to. I’m sure world events won’t disappoint.
I think we need something that will truly hurt a node for them to be meaningful and for us to take heed.
Im sure it will surprise us with what they have in store….on the other hand i think they should dump combat pets..but thats just me.
I hope these events aren't as common as they are in other games. I played FF14 and at any given time there's 2-3 "events" happening in the zone your in. Not exactly something to go out of your way for. Now if they happen 2-3 times a day in a day for an entire region they might just stay interesting longer.
if they could just make how interesting event quest/side quests in witcher 3.
I just want events that matter.
I'd like to see significant consequences for world events. For instance, if you fail to stop a wave attack on your node, it takes damage, gets knocked down a tier or even gets destroyed. World Event should also be a part of story arcs progression The outcome has to be meaningful or they will be nothing more than filler content as you said. They also should be sufficiently challenging that the outcome is always in doubt. To me, that's the only real way to motivate players to care about them.
As I have said elsewhere, I want World Events to be used to make Server Mergers interesting, and part of the story of the merged servers, rather than having mergers be something we pretend to ignore.
Otherwise, whatever Steve wants, I will give my best.

I think the world events will be interesting as they have stated that they will affect nearby towns and even damage buildings and such if they go on for too long.
