What is Ashes of Creation?
Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.
Risk Vs Reward
All across Verra, you have the opportunity to experience massive warfare, participate in epic trade caravans, and gather valuable components to craft exquisite items. Not only will your fellow players be your adversaries; the creatures of the land and the very environment itself will pose a constant and fresh challenge. Will you siege castles to become royalty, defeat other guilds to showcase your prowess, shape the marketplace by being a successful trader, or earn renown by developing your artisan crafting skills? This is your story, you tell us!

EPISODE 69 giggity Thank You so much for having me on! Great talks 🫡 keep up the great work
A very Nyce discussion.
Open Sea PvP somehow changed my mind about PVP, from "I will cope with PvP" to "The Pirate's Life for Me!"
Open PvP provides a frisson of danger everywhere, and will add value to gathering and crafting.
Ashes needs to Launch with all or almost all the promised systems because they are so interconnected.
I have three primary concerns.
First, that because Testers paid good money to play, and are big into the game, the way they interact with the Node System and PvP will be so radically different from the open Launch Population, that Launch could be very rough.
Second, because each part of the Node System needs to work well, they will be gamified at the expense of verisimilitude. For example, Caravans having randomized starting points, and a finish line.
Finally, given the tsunami of Launch, there will be a lot of server mergers when the tide goes out. I am not impressed with how they say they will handle mergers. It seems like a story breaking kludge. How does the merge fit into the story of either server?
I still believe that Intrepid should take advantage of their weather, story, and event systems to make mergers into a story event.
Have NPCs attack the Nodes, driving players back through the starting portals and so to a different server.
Alternately, NPC armies and weather divide the Nodes into inhabitable and uninhabitable Nodes, then combine the habitable Nodes from different servers into one.
Make mergers have their own story, their own quests, maybe even their own gear, so that living through a merger becomes part of the story rather than something we best pretend never happened.
lets talk about rangers…. oh wait
This guy seems very…Nyce.
I really would have liked to see a dual approach to systems. One surface level or minimum approach and one deep, intricate system. I am worried that a deep, involved system may become boring or a nuisance to players who would prefer to spend their time elsewhere.
Episode 69?… Nyce!
Atlas MMO has majority naval content in its game, player pop is low but it is there. The first few months of Atlas EA release, before player pop nose dived, was some of the best pvp territorial large scale control experiences in an MMO we have ever had. Mortal Online 2 , also moving to unreal 5+, is developing naval mechanics. Anyway love your 1v1 podcasts…always great work with great flowing conversations with a diverse group of aoc community peoples'.
