What is Ashes of Creation? Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMORPG experience. Our world structure is dynamic, and built to react to your actions. Cities will rise and fall as you shape the world of Verra. Quests and secrets will unlock as populations gather and their needs grow. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real-time, you will have the ability to destroy what’s been created, paving the way for new developments, populations, and change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your experience. Gone are the days of static worlds; change is here to stay!

All across Verra, you have the opportunity to experience massive warfare, participate in epic trade caravans, and gather valuable components to craft exquisite items. Not only will your fellow players be your adversaries; the creatures of the land and the very environment itself will pose a constant and fresh challenge. Will you siege castles to become royalty, defeat other guilds to showcase your prowess, shape the marketplace by being a successful trader, or earn renown by developing your artisan crafting skills? This is your story, you tell us!

  1. I'm ALREADY mad about the node update next month, and even MORE enraged about the update the month after that. I can't wait to get into discord and flame Steven and big dumb dumb heads that disagree with me!

  2. I have been following since day 1 on kickstarter and I have long since stopped getting on the discord. I know what I was spending my money on and I trust the vision of the team. If I didn't I wouldn't have put the money up for it. I knew what I was getting into playing APOC and what the intent of it was and I actually enjoyed it for the most part. I still got unlocked skins that I will be able to show off in game from it soooo. 😉 I am excited to see the node update as I have been waiting for nodes 2.0 for a very long time. All this drama and noise is just that; noise. We haven't even seen ships up close and so many other systems that haven't been touched yet and people think none of these systems will change based on our Alpha 2 feedback and the data they are able to acquire. UE is a fantastic engine and they have a very talented team with a vision, but sometimes that vision will have to change to make all the systems cohesive and work together. I might know a little something about that.

  3. I think my main concern from this new update is the fact that they want to make all of these cool new systems, exclusive to those that own a freehold. Since Freeholds are very limited, only a very small amount of the player base will actually be able to interact with it. I think im fine with Taverns, and some social aspects being limited to them, but why animal husbandry? Im hoping we can all have the majority of the content in our own instanced homes. Also, while on the subject of exclusivity. I understand their philosophy, but Im not sure if itll play out the way they think with RMT. Theyd have to design it in a way thats never been done before.

  4. The only way you still think the argument against the current implementation of FH acquisition is that it'll take too long or its too much work is by choosing to not understand it. I'll break it down in a very simple way: you and 6 friends will never outbid a guild of 200.

  5. I couldn't care less about what these nobodies say. This "Elitist" community is filled with casuals and wannabe try hards, I'm sorry to say, but its the truth.
I joined a big European AoC discord, 200+ members, active discord and all of them were casuals in every other game they played, but ashes was suddenly the game they were gonna go "All out" on.

Most people I talked to and thought were "Good", turned out to be bad in PvP. When I say PvP, yes I mean in its whole wide broad term.
Low rated/No rating in WoW since Arenas release with TBC, No knowledge or engaged in any PvP in GW2, No PvP or knowledge in PvP in FFXIV.
No PvP or knowledge in PvP in SWTOR. The list continues, the majority of these players only familiarity with competitive PvP is COD Deathmatch, or any other very casual games where there was no attempt to climb elo at all. Me and another individual happened to be the only guys who actually had engaged in high rated pvp or done a lot of pvp in most MMORPGS. But, they were the elites.

This applied to PvE as well. Most of these people came from games such as WoW, FFXIV, SWTOR, ArcheAge, GW2 etc.
No high end PvE accomplished in any title, none. But they were the elites of Ashes of creation.
Listen, I am not trying to come across as "That guy", but when you want to come across as a "Tryhard" and everything you got going for you is getting Iron in league as Lux in mid lane, then I am sorry to tell you, man, you're never going to compete in Ashes in any aspect of what the game is going to offer anyways. (This is not directed at you OP. Just general)

Again, I am not trying to be the "Look at me, I done it all in high elo in most games", no, I am just trying to showcase that most people who think are good, who have backed the game since day 1: You will get absolutely trashed by people who will get into the game on release. Most of you should drop the act and accept the fact that you suck and you can get good. Fuck the wannabes, see you at the top of the ladder homies, the rest can stay in their freehold and farm cabbages and do animal husbandry.

  6. Ashes of Creation isn't a game. Right now it's just a process, one of creation and change. It's in flux. One day, all things being equal, it will perhaps be a game. That being said, I believe that it is vitally import that people in the community frequently, adamantly, and energetically express their views, whether positive or negative, outraged or ecstatic, fantasy or reality, on the progress of the game. In many cases, I think vitriolic, negative criticism is absolutely necessary to shock people out of their rut and make them authentically consider other ways of doing things. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" is not just a trite homily, it's a fact of life. "Constructive" just means "serving to improve or advance", and that definition does not exclude any viewpoint, but it significantly also does not include a provision requiring the critique to be reasoned, rational, polite, soft spoken. or even true. The aegis falls on the entity being critiqued to marshal arguments and evidence to support and explain its position. Rejecting alternate views because they are not "constructive", meaning "not in line with what I think," is not valid or productive and will very quickly destroy credibility.

  7. Since they sold skins for something, one would think that thing is obtainable. With the bidding system and exclusivity of the freehold, perhaps money was spent on things that players can't get. No where is there a warning to this effect. And for Stephen to gaslight the community by saying that everyone that wants a freehold has a chance to get one. I want a freehold, not just a chance of one. I understand why they reduced the number, but I am worried it may cause more problems that it solves.

  8. The "old Ashes of Creation"? Haha, you got it right… sweaty members of the gAmEr cOmMuNiTy need to chill the fuck out and realize… you don't know what you want, or what makes a good game. You THINK you know, and you blather loudly about what games MUST have and MUST NOT have… but you don't know. You have no idea, and it's been borne out that every time a studio tries to listen 100% (or hell, even 50%) to "cOmMuNiTy iNpUt", the game ends up trash. Y'all don't know what makes a good game. Keep on shouting at the Internet, enraged over imaginary changes to imaginary systems that aren't even beta yet.

Look, these are people with nothing going on for themselves, so they get involved in these petty squabbles and emotionally invested in what they think is gonna be a Christmas that will heal their wounded inner child "as long as it's done right!" I've tried to talk some sense into a few of them, they won't have it… I'm being a bootlicker for accepting the WRONG PATH Intrepid is going down! ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  9. I believe your misunderstanding the stance of how it was.
I dont think the argument is "how it used to be" so much as "I invested in a red sports car with a v12 and this isn't what you pitched to me when I invested."
Imagine a car company talked you into backing a new sports car they want to make and told you at the time you invested that it would be a red sports car with a twelve cylinder engine. Now you accept that its going to take years to make this car, however at year three they show off a sedan with a ten cylinder. That's not what you invested in but you like it so you let it slide. Then one day they show you the sports car you invested in is now a minivan with a V6 and then at year five they show you that now its a blue Jeep/truck with a V8.
While there is such a thing as buyers remorse, depending on when you backed Ashes, it could be considered what is called "Bait and Switch"

  10. people that defending intrepid are just people who gonna have the whole guilds behind them (streamers, people from some other games that will move together with guildies etc.). Single players if they won't buy alpha/beta access to get prepared for launch will simply lose opportunity to get freehold. It's just like explaining to a millionaire why his workers are important but he still pays the lowest wage to them. You will realize intrepid mistakes when you will lose audience or playerbase on specific servers. Why not implement system like Albion has and let people decide how much % you want to pay for specific refine/usage of some buildings? It will be only fun for those who will be in these 2-3k players that will get the freehold, but huge guilds will quickly make monopoly on freeholds. This slowly looks like diablo 4 in terms of criticism by youtubers, everyone is scared to say a bad word just because they won't be included in content creators program, but when game will be like 1-2 weeks old then everyone will cry about how bad the game is, but sadly it will be too late, just like New World and D4 did with their testers/content creators. Keep on good work, but don't cry later, because when people say anything bad about the game all youtubers keep saying "LET THEM DO THEIR JOB" or "STOP HATING, THE GAME IS NOT OUT YET". Of course it is not, but it is already crystal clear that most people on server iwll struggle and if you won't find any kind person to let you craft in their freehold you will just need to be gatherer forever to get any money out of that.

  11. Steven should not be creating HIS Vision of AoC… He should be creating MY Vision.

Nothing in Development should ever Evolve! Every time Steven says the word "Iteration", which he says A Lot, what he's saying is; he's ruining my version of a "Game that quite literally doesn't Exist"

    You didn't show Pig Murder…

Just to clarify, cuz… internetz… this post is meant to be read in "stereotypical Karen voice"
Except the Pig murder… I'm actually saddened by such blatant censorship.

  12. So here's my take on the Freehold update. Love the system itself! One issue though and its a big one for me. How you acquire them is a huge problem…I don't have an issue with them being hard to attain. That's fine because the world is only so big and there should be a certain level of exclusivity. The problem is the auction system. The bidding process will be absolutely dominated by the guilds with the most amount of players. They will pool resources and you will end up with a in-game 'landed aristocracy' who totally gatekeep the freeholds and therefore all high level processing in their area. The only way around this will be to if you are lucky enough to maybe be in a less populated server and in an area where a large guild hasn't set down roots. If their node is sieged and destroyed so what…the process will simply begin again. Intrepid could put a moratorium on player to player trading early on to try to prevent it but that won't work either. You'll see people using the auction houses to sell items of low value for stupid amounts of money as a lever for wealth transfer. Nyce Gaming did a video on the June livestream and came up with an idea that I think would work really well and keep this from happening. An individual reputation system that is a per player thing that the node records…those with the highest reputation get the highest priority to get a freehold certificate once the other prerequisites are met. It seems a fair way to do it in my opinion and it doesn't punish a player for simply not being in a large guild.

  13. … Gate keeping? Dude, you can work your ass off but it doesnt Gu.. a freehold. You just dont want to see the prob.. 50k players 4k freeholds? Dude, be at least real about it… and stop it !!!

  14. FREEHOLDS will be lost when a town/node is lost via War.
    So you will have opportunities.
But you just might be happy not spending that kind of money/effort for what could be lost in just a few days time.

  15. I don't agree with stevens take that you be able to "earn a freehold by hard work" that isn't genuine. You could be the best player in the game and still not end up with one just because of the limited nature of one. The servers, at one point in their max potential, could have 50k people tied to it, and they said free holds will be in the low thousands.

  16. i agree with this video, but i dont understand what you mean by changes? i dont think ive noticed anything change from the vision steven had back in 2017 when i backed the KS? theyre just ironing out the details of the systems etc we all knew was gonna be in the game
the only thing i can think of is that there wont be xbows at least on launch
