  1. Bro when i saw that dislike ratio i had to open the video again to be sure i disliked KEKW Keep em coming bro. As for asmonD, he asked for better arguments and sadly, you did not deliver "better" ones.

  2. 7:23 huhhh last time i checked steam charts aΓΆbion had 10k players online, and only a small minority plays via steam, i dont know a single player in albion that plays via steam . . . . . or they dont want to admit it!

  3. That was a quick turnaround on this vid, I do agree that that there was a whole lot of back and forth about a game that hasn't even had the chance to be played yet. Healthy debate about what we might expect is something that should take place and can lead to exciting ideas, but no one should take the conversation so personally and go out and demean or devalue others because they don't have a big enough following for their liking. And at what point does someone's knowledge become worthy of consideration. 07:48 πŸ€”

I know of a lot of people that literally no one knows but have great insights into many things

Though I am wondering why I would even post this I am a literal unknown and I am talking to a dog it's not like my thoughts would matter 😏
This was another fun video, look forward to the next one

  4. Idk I've played Atlas which is similar to Ark, but with pirates and it has both a PVP and a PVE server. Of course pve is nice if you don't want to get constantly griefed but it also gets really boring so there's that.

  5. I am not a pvp fan. My first expirience with mmo's was Ultima Online and it had pvp in it with a flag system that didnt work due to all the aoe spells so people could kill other players and remain blue. I did play some pv there and it was fun when the players were expecting it but most of the time it felt like bullying. Since then i stayed away from mmo's that had a pvp focus. The thought of losing a days worth of work from farming a dungeon or just mining because two guys thought it woud be fun to kill my character was very un enjoyable. I did create an anti pvp characeter and stood guard at my favorite mine for days to kill the blue player killers and that was a bit fun but it gets old and being forced to play differently than i want to took some of the fun from the game. I was going to write this game off as well and let the chad's of the mmo world gank themselves in displays of superiority but your videos gave me a sense of hope that this game would be different. I'll give this game a shot and see how these systems work and if it really has changed. Thanks for putting these out.

  6. Hi Sawman, I have been following your content for a while now as an ESO player, though I am def. a PVE carebear and really really bad at PvP. I have really enjoyed seeing your point of view, your humour, and seeing how much work you put into your content. I hope that, no matter what, you will continue to create content for any game or project you enjoy. Stay safe and healthy and while it can be very daunting being out there on the internet with all those people that feel the need to be abusive when any discussion is raised, I appreciate you responding the way you did. <3

  7. I love that you always stand your ground and don't back down. I, for one, am very much looking forward to Ashes of Creation and reuniting with all my ESO peeps to build a new PvP community.

  8. Defining success is subjective in gaming, but lets be honest here. the biggest MMO's out now, FF14, WOW, ESO, Lost Ark, GW2 to name a few have multiple ways to play the game. Now Saw you make a great point about ESO and how the dev's focus on PVE. As I have said before ESO is a great game run by a horrible company. All of these MMO's offer people, PVE, PVP, Housing, Cosmetics, Raiding, Crafting and all of them (to my knowledge) exclude PVP unless you are in a PVP zone or flagged for PVP. Most games that are PVP 24/7 are niche at this point. That isnt to say they arent good games and niche cant be a successful model but the biggest games dont have open world PVP everywhere.

Maybe AOC will be the new norm I dont know. What I do know is gaming has changed tremendously in the 40 years I have been doing it (ya im ancient). You have WAY more casual players now who play for socialization and community. They arent going to play a game where they log in to chat on discord while they gather some resources, maybe grind a mount only to be killed as they are doing it. Saw you know this, you know the ESO crowd you know what its become. Ya we are PVP players, but those PVE/housing/cosmetic pet collectors spend money and in the end these companies need revenue streams. I am a PVP player, I learned a long time ago you never get to attached to something you can lose in game, but there are literally millions of players out there who would never be able to stomach it. AOC with open world pvp is going to leave money on the table. Might be the right business decision for them, we will see.

  9. As long as the devs are fine with smaller overall audience and happy with their niche, the game will be fine. It will never be huge, but as long as the team and company making it are fine with smaller numbers for their niche audience, the game will do fine. Just don't expect it to be huge.

  10. There's no reason to change Ashes of Creation. It is what it is and it will draw the players who want and enjoy that in their game. People who don't enjoy this environment have other options and can pursue those. I hope it's great and does what everyone wants.

  11. The idea of a separate PvE and PvP server can't hold up against AOC because PvP is supposed to be a driving force in the world, affecting things from sieges to travel. Trying to create a PvE exclusive server would be equivalent to making an entirely new game.

It's sort of unrelated but The Act Man made a video discussing why an easy mode wouldn't work in Darksouls, Elden Ring and so on. Too many problems arise when you try to remove a fundamental aspect of a game, in it's case is was adding an Easy mode.

  12. I've never understood why they can't do separate balance for pvp/pve In ESO. I know it would take some work but imo should be worth it. 1 good all-round mmo could sink all the others except maybe league and RuneScape

  13. It's actually funny that a while back I found your channel while watching an asmon reaction of your video. I subbed right then and unsubbed from him cause I don't like his attitude and that he acts like he knows everything! He gives his opinions as fact which annoys me beyond belief! You, on the other hand, give your opinions as opinion and I agree with your opinions much more often then not. Anyways, I just thought it was funny how that worked out haha.. idk

  14. The thing is, pve players dont want that risk vs reward. The caravan system doesn't appeal to anyone who doesn't like pvp.

Pve and pvp servers exist for those who do like pvp and those who dont. Saying that ashes just isnt the same without pvp and thus pve servers won't work, is saying that this game wont work for pve players.

My point is: if pvp is so fundamental that the game simply is not worth playing with it toggled off, how can you say someone who doesn't like pvp will enjoy that game?

I think aoc will be a niche mmo for someone who is a hardcore mmo AND pvp fan

  15. 40 something year old gamer here. I joined ESO during Covid for something to do, and had a β€œno way in hell will I ever pvp play style.” Then it got boring. Kind of like a chore cleaning your house everyday. Gave pvp a try and was hooked as the risk vs reward was a bit more exciting. Now, I see AOC is a high risk reward and grievance, and I am super excited. I don’t want shit to be easy, repetitive and boring. Npc fights are nothing like real player fights. There is just more invested in overall knowledge and consequences.

  16. Hey man, I think you have some good points. I do worry that people seem to only view from the PVPier mindset or PVE mindset. I think pve people who are not interested in any pvp combat will be forced to lose time in fighting off people. How does the game work for that group? Likewise pvp people need to also have a great variety of pvp scenarios to partake in. Some organic and some structured. The truth is you can’t please everyone. AOC just need to say this is our game and stick to what they decide. If it is a success, great and if not, there will always be a dedicated group of people to play it. It’s pointless for people to draw swords on how they feel and forget that the dev will decide on what they think is best anyway. Keep up the content mate. Cheers..

  17. people do police in pvp , i was on pvp server Xavius long time ago in WoW and our guild would intervene is enemy player went into camp and killed quest givers and low lvl players . we often created fun large battles out of this and it was memorable. in Division and Division 2 Dark zones – also open world pvp areas it was intense and fun . and people who went rogue and griefed got hunted hard . than you have other games with pvp ,like Conan Exiles and Rust and Planetside 2 , which are or were popular for pvp aspect . all this drama because some people refuse to peek out of their comfort (safe)zone .

    This. Just this.
I've been long time Lineage 2 player, spent more than 10 years with this game.
It's PvP system always shined to me – I loved picking a random fights over the exp zones, while grinding my arse off to level up, I loved protecting my clan members while they were exping and warring clans picked on them and hell, how I loved sieges in this game 😁
Too bad NCsoft ruined Lineage 2, it's golden years are far in the past now. Eh.

  19. I think it comes to this. Do you want another safe place MMO or do you want something new? Maybe it will fail but at least it's not just another wow clone ffs. What is there to lose? In the worst case scenario you can go back to eso/FF/wow/NW/gw2 etc etc

  20. I think twitch streamers opinions should not make game devs change the game for them. Its honestly disgusting that these streamers, say something and all their braindead microphones follow. Ahses should be pvp only, they want to talk about it not a good system look at black desert. Its not a free to play mmo, and it’s popping. Asmongold β€œjob” is to play games, he does not represent the player base. Stop mindlessly agreeing with streamers and form your own opinion. Asmongold needs to take a shower and go outside.
