Alodar explained why these types of games fail but spun it as if it were a good thing. "Our server was dying because we stacked our team and no one else wanted to play" even when the problem was "solved" by having their group split off, the problem still existed. The server and game were dying because being successful in these styles of games require you do things like stacking the odds in your favor by having zerg numbers or collecting all the best players. And all the best players will want to collect in the same group, why wouldn't they? Cops and robbers is only fun if someone is willing to play cops for you, the moment they have no incentive to do so they no longer want to play and who could blame them? This isn't about PvP it's about odds stacking. If you wanted to do who was the better player in a PvP environment there are more balanced games to measure your ability. If you value your time and you are not in "the big group" the only smart thing to do is play another game, but monkey brains will laugh and say "heh can't take the PvP" when in reality they're looking for a game with a more even footing.
The Lucky video is full of misinformation and false assertions. His basic premise that this is the same L2, but it is not, so the video was just clickbait. He clams that 18 percentage said they would like it, but the majority did't care. He makes alot of assertions invluding that all pvp=greifing. He basically wants Ashes to change the core game to cater to casual players and do away with pvp like all the others mmos that have failed recently.
He was so wrong that Stephen even responded to the video in the comments. And how can you even know how well it works without even testing and tweaking. Lets just wait and see and then we can complain.
A lot of people get hanged on whether he got the details of Ashes flagging system right. I think that's irrelevant for the sake of his argument. As long as there is a small possibility of getting pvp griefed or ganked, the pvers will just flock elsewhere. And as far as we know, Ashes was designed to make room for that possibility.
In WoW, people who don't want to get ganked flock to pve servers. In MMORPGs with no pve servers, they just flock to other games. And Ashes will probably have to fight for players with Riot's MMORPG, so imagine how that will go.
One major thing that wasn't addressed is that corrupt players get power-damping the more green people they kill so grouping up is useless because at a certain point your attacks just wont do any damage. Also there is XP loss that is worse then L2.
