What is Ashes of Creation?

First like…woo-hoo! Generally speaking I don't mind a well balanced pvp…when I want it. Getting ambushed and ganked is never fun. However in Ashes there are steps being taken to discourage that kind of behavior. Meaningful pvp does matter. If you kill for resources or as part of a guild war it has a lot more meaning because there are reasons to engage in it which ever side you are on. Just randomly griefing and killing a player because you can, or because they don't see it coming and you have the advantage…but done for no reason other than to just be an asshole ruins games. I really like the system being set up in Ashes to negate that behavior…the corruption system, the bounty hunting system, and full open pvp on the oceans should keep the game from evolving into a clusterbleep.
No one likes getting ganked over and over in an MMO. Does the corruption system go far enough for the game to be good for PvE players? Really curious to know your thoughts…
The corruption system looks to be shaping up pretty well. Steven is pretty aware of the community sentiment of always on PvP. Inteprid needs to nail the corruption system right at the launch of Ashes. Great video !

Can't wait to try any system and see how they adjust if needed. But I'm up for trying them out the way Intrepid believes they will best fit into their overall game first.
i still think dropping a whole piece of gear is way too big of a punishment LOL, too many loopholes for the greens to abuse in that.

I can’t stand when a lowbie jumps my harvesting route. I want to be able to deter people like that. Glad AoC will let us.
Also, I want battlegrounds. They’re great for solo content which AoC won’t have a ton of.
PvP will be similar to Eve online, where dropping resources is not going to dissuade pvp. People will get a pvp set that they don't mind losing and set out in hostile territories to kill the pve people, and try to get fights. Those regions will get information channels where people will post if a hostile is spotted, and people will form up to hunt those down even before they made a kill. Alliances will be made, people will be betrayed and wars will be fought.
Nice to see the other extreme of the PvP-PvE spectrum in the comments too.That Jeff guy, who hates "lowbies jumping HIS harvesting route". Damn guy, talk to the lowbie, group with him for protection against others. Show him a route that is next to "yours". Don't be toxic. An attitude like that is similar to the griefer attitude.

You don't need BiS gear to grief low levels , this will not work at all.
There needs to be much lower motivation to attack people who are gathering, or it will be just hunters vs gatherers and gatherers will be ones who get short stick at the end as their experience will be just worse to facilitate pvp crowd.
Great video as usual. PVP is a big concern for everyone but I think we'll be just fine.
I really hope they keep crouching, just expands the gameplay imho, especially getting into areas and exploration
Correct me if I'm wrong. Dying from PK shouldn't incur death penalties, i.e, exp debt, decrease stat. I want to fight again the one who killed me. 😛
