  1. This is not even halfway done, why do they show it? It's like a sculptor showing you some slightly carved stone and talking about how awesome of a sculpture it will become eventually. We will see when it's finished, until then it's all words and promises.

  2. sorry for putting this flak here but:
I'm so fkin over this type of content (especially if its monitized)
Like, "Oh check this video out, it's not mine but you see that face in the (insert wherever stream cam is), this is MY video, give ME the view and ad revenue"
peeps seem to love charlie (moist) but dude make me cringe hard.

  3. MMOs systems are being evolved in the wrong direction because they WANT to make evergreen content by scaling everything. by making every progression based content take TIME because players lose incentives if they feel fully progressed (max lvl with BiS gear + fully upgraded player power systems). which is true to some extent but if you're not fatigued by getting capped wouldn't it stand to reason that you want to do content like dungeons or raids at peak performance? wether it's to help others or just to test out your limits.

  4. This comment section is so weird. So many of you spewing hate for Ashes with no reasoning or justification. The game hasn’t even hit Alpha 2. Just relax and keep in tune with developer updates. It’s good to be skeptical, not hateful. Christ

  6. I kinda disliked BDO Character creation over others with slightly less depth, because of:

1- The lighting doesn't match the lighting in game. You can change lighting scenes, but some lighting gives you blue skin and other turn into a delicious caramel color skin. Like let me see the skin how it's supposed to. I remember trying to create a black character, and for me, she was gorgeous. The person I was playing with was "Oh my fucking god why are you so black? You look like coal". (monitor and such also affect this).
2- There were no afros/afro buns or hairstyles of that type. In fact in certain areas where customization could be deeper because it's simpler, such as hair, is very lacking.
3- The XYZ axis don't respect XYZ directions. They depend on other stuff and sometimes whether or not the character is rotated. Paired with "rotate", "scale" and "move/position", this is a mess. You take double the time figuring out if Y makes the nose longer, shorter, moves it inwards or outwards, etc. It was super annoying. And at the end of the day the walking anim/standing position are very "sexy generic korean game booba" and if you could change them I don't know because at that moment I spent 2 and a half hours, and I didn't want to mess with any more sliders ruining it.

Edit: And the boob / ass editing isn't even that great to merit all that shit. It's fine, but it isn't great.

That said, it is one of the best by far, no question. I would just prefer a in-between something like Archeage/PSO2 and BDO. In the middle of that. Simple to use, but in depth on selection and sliders.

  7. Playing mmos since 2002 has made me immune to disappointment.

I’ve played 80% of the mainstream/popular mmos and probably a third of the not so popular mmos and let me tell you the list of disappointing mmorpgs is very very very long.

    I don’t feel things anymore

  8. So far everything about this game looks horrible, but Asmon is right about systems, this game will live and die on its systems. So far the game is hideously ugly with no art style, the player characters are awful, the world is super generic fantasy tropes, and the combat is looking interesting but nothing we haven't seen similarly in other games. Unreal Engine 5 is literally meaningless, all Unreal Engine 5 does is lock out a huge number of potential players, with no art style it doesn't matter what engine you use.

  9. I mean, even if the game's great, people will play it for a couple of months, run out of content and then go play other stuff until new content is added. It's not the 2000-2010s anymore, there's less and less people that play only one game.

  10. 5:37 i pretty much strongly disagree. "If you have a game with good systems, everything else comes together." Only if you look at community and systems as the same thing.
The most important thing for any MMO to be healthy is the community and player interaction. Because an MMO's biggest selling point is the feeling of "playing WITH other people." The game has to make you WANT to log back in, but not to chase some item improvements, but to SEE AND DO STUFF WITH OTHER PEOPLE.
The systems are tools designed to help and improve social experiences. Because MMOs are meant to be social games. Wether you chose to troll people, or make friends with them, or try to become the best at some aspect of the game, the driving force behind that are PEOPLE and how YOU make a name for yourself in that fantasy world.
Even if WoW had good systems, it would still be boring to tha huge number of players, because the game is mostly designed to be played like a solo-experience.

  11. im glad someone is finally giving a good light on albion, the systems are great and I loved the game. It was the only mmorpg that I played in years that actually made you work with players and you felt like your an important player for your clan because of the difference 1 player can make, the wars were so cool too and how the territories worked. The ganking ruined it for me as albion became overpopulated and you would get ganked at almost every entrance to an area, and u cant teleport xD one time I got kicked from my clan and had to move all my stuff, one of the people that had beef with me told another clan to gank me when I was moving my whole bank from the old clan base to spawn and i lost it all :/ they did bring in a new system to lessen the ganking alot and it shows they know what they are doing and they listen to the community. Albion is a very underrated game, I think its because of the art style and that you cant solo the game (which is boring anyway as its a mmorpg) but yeah very underrated.

  12. Man these days all of the MMO videos have FF music in the background, I'm so glad so many of the great pieces of the game are appreciated. If anyone is curious the one at 11;15 is called No Greater Sorrow (it plays in some cities in shadowbringers)

  13. I remember Steven a year or two ago saying they had a ton of employees. Googling it, I find out they have about 79 employees. Even then, World of Warcraft Classic was developed by less than that…. If I remember the stats, WoW was made with only 40 people. And now WoW has 100's of employees and YET the game still doesn't update enough that makes sense. So 6 employees added to 79 isn't a huge gain, its actually a small gain in the sense of "they already have a ton of people."

I agree that systems make the game. Adding to the fun value. I disagree with Albion, that game is trash. But games today they lack the systems. World of Warcraft in its hay day took out the guess work of mmorpgs. It simplified everything to make it more accessible to those who didn't like or didn't play previous mmorpgs. You couldn't change your stats, you didn't have the freedom to pick and choose your skills. Everything was locked in like a roller coaster and you had no real choice. But it worked because it made it easier to control the experience. So everyone who played could have fun. THE FUTURE of MMORPGS needs to be player freedom and player driven economy. So you would get to pick what stats you want to grow (strength, dexterity, stamina, intelligence, wisdom, in terms of classic D&D as the example) and you can pick and choose the skills you learn. On the skill side, classes need to disappear. Let the player pick and choose. You can wear the armor you want, and the more you wear it, the better you are at it. But you can only master a few skill sets NOT them all. And through that limitation you create the idea of classes. Heavy armor mastery, mace mastery, shield mastery, and healing mastery, bam you have a cleric. Someone might choose to drop the healing side and go into holy damage instead buffing their damage output and changing from healer to dps. You can then have the classic roleplay meme of "dps, tank, healer" without forcing it upon people based on the class you play. When you play WoW, depending on the class you picked, more than likely you are being forced into a role…. especially when you start playing with try hard's who force their guild bullshit on you. "oh youre a warrior, you HAVE to tank, that's your only role" or "oh youre a priest, you have to heal, its your only role"…. its sad. and it sucks. The future of MMORPGS will have more freedom but with limitation to force player vs player economy/content. Then you can have "jobs" in those games, like farmer, miner, crafter (weapons, wands, armor), or bounty hunter and mercenary. Why? because open world PvP is the future. Don't want PvP, too bad. There needs to be a proper system in place where bounty hunters can be hired to kill those who troll players.

IN FACT, New World's first few alpha's had that exact system. You were white name until you attacked someone, if you killed them, you then had a red name. That red name meant you were a criminal. And NON CRIMINALS could attack criminals WITHOUT becoming a criminal themselves. So you had these super lame trolls who went around slaughtering everyone, and their cooldown timer got higher and higher, eventually they were being mass murdered by hordes of white players. The reverse griefing. SO IN THE ALPHA FORUMS, those that would usually grief people through PvP and "get off to it" ended up crying how unfair the system was. It LITERALLY deterred randomly ganking by trolls. It worked. And the team at Amazon Studios decided to trash the whole system and try to go classic MMORPG but failed to even do that.

Agreed double pepporoni and bacon is definitely a meat lovers pizza. I like doing pepperoni, bacon, and chicken….

  14. How are people still buying into this MMO? The dev's are Already promising diamonds that we all know they can't deliver due to the scope and limitations. Having 500$ packs to try to get people to FOMO buy cosmetics/alpha access is also a huge red flag. If they want this game to be everything they promise it to be it shouldn't come out within the next 10 years anything shorter would mean compromises were made and it won't deliver what the devs "hyped it up to be"

Haven't we learned from Cyberpunk? NMS? New World? and so many other games doing the exact same thing they are doing…promising to much.

  15. Maybe it's overly skeptical, but i don't see why AoS may turn into something massive, most arguments are just hopium fuelled dreams of mmo-community. Yes, it's probably gonna have it's share of market, but nothing more. Personally i expect massive hype train crash

  16. I see Steven must be going through Asmon's comments. I mentioned the lack of races being a major turn off for someone like me. The world just needs a story now and something to care about and a reason for conflict (assuming that's the basis) and MAYBE i'll really keep up with the game's progress and possibly play on release.
