  1. Here it goes…. I'm glad Im keeping my expectations low for this game. I'd love a high quality new mmorpg that respected my time, but I really don't think it will happen ever again.

  2. I never likes nor pledged nor will ever play games that are crowdfunded. It's basically like Give us 3 million dollars to build a game so we can then SELL you stuff in this game you paid to be built. Fuck that

  3. What's the matter, I thought you liked pay to win so much? Why don't you advertise this the same way you advertise other P2W garbage like Lost Ark? I guess they didn't pay you for this one, clown.

  4. The problem is games like Guildwars 2 only have a cosmetic progression as an end game so now the end game is pay to win but also how they fund the game. All these money making strats are psychological with haters and lovers attached to every system based on how happy they are and how much they can spend.

  5. Why would they not do this after how successful Lost Ark was? They did the same thing. Bitch all you want. Unless people actually change their behavior or a law is passed. Don't expect companies to change. You fuckers got no one to blame but yourselves

  6. I would really love a game that would introduce a set of recipes for every cosmetic the offer in the store. I mean if "truely" crafted armor will be on par with the store then recipe collection should be a thing, right?

  7. Cosmetic Fomo is the only way to monetize a game in the west without making it p2w or p4convenience/p2skip. No problems with store bling as long as there aren't stats on them, they aren't RNG, and you can get things through actual in-game "hard work" that's just as cool.

  8. i absolutely dont care at all as long as the game is good and so will most people i think
complaining about cosmetics and things that dont matter to gameplay is often the thing people go to when they are overall unsatisfied with the game
i mean, who is going to refuse to play a good game because they sell cosmetics? thats the kind of thing that gets cited when they refuse to play a shit game as a reason for why they dont

  9. I think the FOMO argument needs to be compared to Crypto Currency more often.

Make your money before the rug pull etc.

    Literally predatory.

  10. Really, if the combat is fun, the graphics are pretty and there's enough to do, who cares about cosmetics, p2w or whatever. The point of games is being fun, not a beacon of morality and business ethics.

  11. If the thing extra gives you an advantage is pay to win like fighting game, if the new dlc character is broken and does a lot more damage, is easier to play and its annoying to play against, is pay to win, there are worst pay to win methods than others that's it

  12. The reason FoMO works is because people enjoy having something the fewest amount of people also have its basic psychology. Especially when cosmetics in video games is concerned. Would you rather have a cosmetic that every person in the game has or one that only a handful of people have? In black desert even less people buy the FoMO cosmetics because they have an intricate dying system as well as mix and match so your costume almost never looks the same as anyone elses even if you have the same purchases. I've spent $700+ on Black Desert and most of that was cosmetics alone. I personally feel if you enjoy the game there isnt anything wrong with supporting it monetarily as much as you want. I dislike making that a requirement though. Hence why I dislike mandatory subscriptions.

  13. Cosmetics are fine, as long as there's a balance between what's put in the shop and what's available in the game. If all "good" cosmetics are store only, it's an issue. Also, for all his jokes about copium, the jab at 14 and WoW as "fake MMOs" while acknowledging that they are the two biggest on the market is acended copium about what dictates the label of "mmo". Or it's bait. Either way, kinda a weird hang up.

  14. They have ALWAYS done Limited get it NOW Mounts and other Cosmetics in their game packages where have you been? All they done now is sell them without the seasonal Packages now.

  15. I Hope we go back to you buy a game and play game maybe a possible month sub later after launch. Also zero cash shop, no buying anything outside of game and sub purchase. Game companies make money they do not need more of it from us gamers. Games Need to go back to unlock in game skins and mounts, you play and get for challenge no spending real money.

  16. To Asmons point of things being too good to be true, a lot of times players have these grand ideas for the games they play however when the rubber meets the road you almost always need to compromise, and a lot of times those compromised ideas tend to be bad when implemented.

I know its a meme but “you think you do but you don’t” i a real concept in game development.

  17. Cosmetics in my opinion aren't that mutch pay2win if the game is free2play, until the prices are too high.
Because if you want to buy a cosmetic it means that you probably reached end game or you are close to end game and you like the game so you would like to look cool, so now it's time to pay money for playing the game for long time and you will look better.
Or just make a game where people need to buy it and instead of making it pay2win make low cost cosmetics and later release DLC Expansioins like Guild Wars 2 does and release more low cost cosmetics that kind of represents a style of a new expansion DLC.

  18. My take is that I prefer my games to be financially secure.

Genshin Impact, in my opinion, is a phenomenal game, that keeps getting better every single update, and I'm very excited about the content planned for the years to come, regardless of what people think of the monetization.

Ashes has 120+ devs and keeps hiring. It costs millions of dollars every year. And selling themed access packs like this is a very harmless way to make money.

I just want a game that the devs are happy releasing. I've seen so many projects being threatened or rushed by the lack of funds.

They've been very upfront with the community. People buying these fully know what they're getting themselves into, it's mainly a way to support the project. I just look at the packs every month and if there is something I really like I'll buy the individual piece that caught my interest. So far it's just a pet xD
