Ashes of Creation – 2021 Update and Alpha Two Expectations

As we close up 2021, there are a lot of things people have questions about with Ashes of Creation. First, for some reason this whole vaporware discussion is popping up again. Intrepid Studios has released an Alpha 0, a Battle Royale Testing, and an Alpha 1. They have clearly done enough proof of concept to disprove any vaporeware concerns. The other big thing is Alpha 2. People keep thinking Alpha 2 is going to be happening early in 2022. There is nothing official from Intrepid Studios about the start of Alpha 2.

As mentioned in the Livestream the new PGN Music Spotify is here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4qZWTa2bhoPr2AOsANBazT?si=x6ieaWH8S02EmGX6HW6rbQ

  1. Alpha 1 dropped the Ranger from the expected archetypes and bows didn't work as required.

Do you think Alpha 2 will start with missing "things" and have to go through multiple iterations for months and months until it is "functionally complete"? or will Intrepid go silent for a long period and pop into Alpha 2 with all the systems present but in a state that needs tweaking?

Do you think that Intrepid will be "a little naughty" and move some Alpha 2 test candidates in their Beta test?

The reason I ask is because Steven's very successful background is Marketing and not project management. It's tough to learn on the job on a multi-million dollar project, although slightly less unnerving if the shareholders don't mind.

  2. I think they need another run on A1.
They shouldn’t move to A2 until all the A1 deliverables are up and running.
Intrepid isn’t going to go from the state of the last Alpha iteration to feature complete, in a few months.
Don’t think so? Remember this is year FIVE and we have 10% of a game.

  3. tbh, i just see A2 as a constantly updating "public test server" which isn't really public but you get my drift. They release it sometime next year and then patch it with new content until launch. It's gonna take time, but at least you can log in and play whenever the servers aren't down for maintenance. I'm excited regardless and i know what i've gotten myself in to. Great video!

  4. People comparing Ashes development pace with Star Citizen, must be either trying to tell a joke or are simply blind.
Star Citizen has little to no progress every year and still people keep investing on that game that looks more and more like an involuntary scam.
While Ashes is been having pretty great progression and development clarity over the last year or so.
I'm one of those people that am a bit burned from Star Citizen, as such nowadays I'm very resistant to invest on alpha games. This resulted on me not investing on Ashes alpha or beta but mostly because the requirement of heavy investment on cosmetics and a bit of the feeling of paying to test.
With this said, I've been very happy with Ashes progress and truly believe the game will be out in 2 to 3 years max, its not a scam and has a lot of promise to provide a great playing experience.
On contrary to Star Citizen that in 7 years, still can barely host 30 players on a single server…. has little features implemented and just a ton of ships to sell at ridiculous pricing, this with over $350 Million funding lol

  5. As a backer of Ashes and someone who wants to see Ashes be successful, I am still skeptical on Ashes because they are hitting a rut on Combat. Here is the core problem with hitting a rut on combat; combat re-works and needing to spend so many cycles just flushing combat out can cause the game to be delayed, or DOA. As I posted in the other video on Combat which I did reply to Jahlon. If combat sucks the game can be DOA like Crowfall, or in development so long like CU or Pantheon that the game will end up DOA because the interest in the game is just gone. So while I agree Ashes is not vaperware, it could end up in a very poor state from what people are hoping still. Steven and team need to make some massive strides next year in development or they could end up in a hole too deep to dig out of for development.

  6. I don't blame people, mmo players have been lied to and just abused by crappy devs/publishers for years, there is zero trust for many. It sucks but i'd rather everyone have little to no expectations about the game, than it being another over hyped thing that could never live up to what people build up in their heads. Also ngl the really bad trend of mmo's with fully open cash shops during development doesn't help, kinda sucks it's the new norm.

  7. few years now when i heared about ashes of creation, when they were accused for being scammers after launching the battle roayle version, but after seeing steven doing media tours and live Q&A's whit streamers, it started getting my attention, the game has so many similarities with other MMo's and they copypaste some of the best content out there from other mmo's, which is really cool, they work it their way and improved it, this is very innovative, and if i ever have the chance to build an mmo, i'd more likely go the same path that steven took, now after a year and half following up with this game i'm growing impatient, no dates for Alpha 2, and i really would love to see people's reaction and how the gameplay is improved if there will be additional content displayed, and from there i will decide if i want to buy the Beta 1&2 keys,
as of the moment i stopped watching the De vmonthly updates, only if there is some serious announcement, but i'd really love to ask, when you think alpha 2 test phase will be ?
